The One Who Lacks a Life

In the Underworld, souls are weighed, and Lu Li's heart is lighter than a feather. His name is nowhere to be found in the Register of Fate, and he is nameless in Heaven's ledger.

The Judge lets him return to life. From then on, everything in his eyes bears a price tag: a broken sword is marked with a single regret, and thunder soil with a painful memory. He has no luck, no destiny, yet he can place the memories he treasures most on the scales and bargain with all things under heaven.

He pawns a memory to gain the power to break through a realm, then cuts away thirty years of memories to resist demonic whispers. But the one who remembers everything he has lost is A He, a lone girl beneath the mountain who cannot cultivate. The whole world will forget him. Only she will remember.

Then he sees the truth of the Celestial Court: there are no true gods above the Nine Heavens. The nine Lords of Fate are merely rent-collecting bookkeepers. What they call ascension is stepping into a trap. What they call a great calamity is settling accounts. The sun is leased, the war souls are held as collateral, and even the five thousand years of the mortal world are written into a mortgage deed.

So the man who exists beyond the ledger climbs the steps, sells his sword, sells his hatred, and at last puts himself on the scales...

The sentient beings of this world shall be their own masters from this day forth. I'll settle the debt.
