Half a Lifetime

Half a lifetime of ups and downs, half a lifetime of fate, nine parts bitterness and one part sweetness.

Half a cup of warm tea to honor the past, the rest of my life to honor the years still to come.

Back then, I didn't yet know that this silent crush, hidden in the evening breeze and the cover of night, would become the cleanest and most unforgettable connection of my tumultuous life. Only years later, looking back, did I understand: amid the nine parts of bitterness and toil that make up life, that one sweet moment from our youth was enough to bring warmth to every year that followed.
