Her Choice

After quitting his job at a relative's factory, Gu Zhiyue went with a friend to work at a factory in Shencheng. After a little over a year, they moved again. Hearing the news, Gu Zhiyue wondered whether to go along, but the other workers said the place was very remote.

Forget it. If that friend wasn't going, then neither would Gu Zhiyue. Back at the dorm, he saw the others packing their things. The factory had said it was moving in the next couple of days.

Gu Zhiyue hurried out to look for a place. There should be plenty of apartments behind the shopping mall.

After walking for half an hour, he reached the large mall. Lots of street stalls were open, and there was even a food street. But Gu Zhiyue wasn't in the mood to look around. Finding a place to rent was the priority. Following the map, he arrived at row after row of apartment buildings. On the ground floor, some shops sold noodles, others sold fruit, and there were convenience stores too.

Gu Zhiyue checked building after building for rental notices. As soon as he spotted one, he called the number. When someone finally answered, he asked cautiously, "Hello, are you the landlord? I'm looking to rent a place. Which floor is available?"

A man's voice came through the phone. "Oh, you're looking to rent a place? Where are you? I'll come over and show you the room."
