The Age of Giant Insects

In 2029, the Third World War broke out. Humanity used weapons it should never have used.

Resonance bombs. Geological weapons. The day they detonated, seismographs around the world went haywire. Tsunamis, volcanoes, sinkholes, but these were only the surface effects.

The true consequences did not become fully apparent until three years later.

The genes that kept all living things small were switched off by the resonance waves.

Ants were no longer tiny black specks. They grew as big as heavy trucks. Spiders no longer spun webs to catch insects. They spun webs to catch people. Mosquitoes no longer just buzzed. Their proboscises became spears capable of piercing steel plates.

And they kept growing. There was no limit.

Humanity fell from the top of the food chain. Cities became nests. The underground utility tunnels became the last refuge.
