The Ledger of Deliverance

Shen Buhu is a Deliverer of Calamities: he fulfills the final wishes of the dead and inherits their cultivation. His profession has three rules: never ask whether a soul was good or evil, never accept money from the living, and never deliver the soul of a fellow disciple. Then he opened the first page of the Deliverance Ledger and saw his own name written there. Three hundred years ago, the cultivation world joined forces to kill the Calamity Immortal. Three hundred years later, the Calamity Immortal's only dying wish was four words: Avenge me.
