The Underworld Ledger

A city, countless ledgers. When someone dies with an unfulfilled obsession, it can take shape as an account, recorded against whoever wronged or killed them. These accounts drain the living of their fortune and drag them toward disaster. One lineage of debt-closers can see the accounts and deal with the dead, earning a living by settling the ghosts' debts. They also uphold one ironclad rule: never investigate an account they have no business investigating.

Each story seems independent, but all are connected to the master ledger buried beneath the city. Someone is deliberately creating accounts that demand lives.
