I Grow Flowers in the Apocalypse and Bury My Pursuers Along the Way

My name is Chen Zhe, and I'm a cleaner with the Seventh Sanitation Squad in the Silent City.

In this city, speaking is a privilege, and making a sound is a death sentence. Three years ago, the Mechanical Divine Realm covered the entire wasteland with a sonic grid. Any sound louder than forty decibels brings a swarm of patrol drones down on you within eleven seconds. They don't ask your name or give you a chance to explain. They burn you to a charred husk on the spot.

So we all live quietly. We breathe quietly, walk quietly, and watch quietly as our companions are dragged into the fog.
