The Three-Element Mage

During the ninth-grade spiritual energy test, Lu Xinghe is found to have dual Water and Wood affinities, rated above average. To his teachers, he is a promising but ordinary student.

But no one knows that just before the formation disk went dark, a sharp bolt of energy, swift as lightning, pierced his spine. It was the third element filtered out by the spirit-testing formation: Lightning. The Wood element's fierce transformation lies hidden in his bones, coursing along his nerves. In a mysterious dream, a voice from an upside-down staircase tells him that awakening his Lightning affinity requires electric shocks to spur his Wood meridians to evolve. But the method, intensity, and cost are all unknown.

At the same time, the barriers between the three realms are weakening. Angels from the Heavenly Realm mistake their actions for purification, the dead rise from the Netherworld, demons from the Rift weave webs of contracts, and the demon clans eye the Great Wall. Four major villainous factions are infiltrating the world in secret. As Lu Xinghe hides his Lightning affinity and trains in Water and Wood, he is drawn into a resonance linking the Mortal Realm, Heavenly Realm, Netherworld, and Rift.
