The story takes place during the Yuanyou period of the Northern Song Dynasty. The three kingdoms of Song, Liao and Xixia coexisted, and undercurrents surged across the borders. A mysterious organization "Yanmen Beigulou" appeared on the rivers and lakes, specializing in selling "a person's identity" - within three months, they could let an unknown person live in the perfect replacement of another person's identity, with exactly the same appearance, accent, martial arts, and memory.
