Pokemon: With a Scouting Eye, I Find Egg Bargains and Aim for Champion

Lu Yu turns down Bulbasaur and a near-Champion Squirtle, taking his 400,000 to search for Pokémon with Champion potential using his appraisal eye.

The Gym-level Pokémon don't have enough potential, and the near-Champions are still a little short. The truly high-quality Pokémon on the market have long been picked over. What's left is either absurdly expensive or has information that seriously contradicts reality. With his funds almost gone, he stakes his last hope on the egg-gambling section of Charmander's Pokémon Shop. A buyer once spent 30,000 League Coins there and hatched a Dratini, but no one has ever repeated the legend since.

Nearly a thousand eggs are in the gambling section, and 99 percent of them are duds that cannot hatch. Damaged eggs, impurities, and mistaken assessments are all mixed together. Just when he is about to give up, pale golden light shines from a Pokémon Egg with red markings and a crack in its shell. It has potential at the near-Champion level, enough to meet the System's requirements. He immediately pays for it and gets a high-end incubator and nutrient solution as well.

But the egg is deficient from birth and can only hatch if its nutrients are replenished. If its true value is exposed, Champion and even near-Champion Trainers may make a move. He must get the dud safely hatched and turn it into a real asset before the practical evaluation.
