In the twenty-first year of the Republic of China, weird things happened one after another in Tianjin Wei. Lin Yan, the former ace detective of the National Police Agency, known as "Lin Guxiang", resigned angrily because his junior sister Su Ying was wronged in the "Kite Case with Human Head" and opened the "Irrelevant Pavilion" to investigate mysterious cases.
There are five major strange cases in the five volumes of the book: the paper man seduction case, the corpse of a woman in a shroud lying in an alley, the paper man wrote the birth date, and Lin Yan used the death certificate to expose the illusion of witchcraft; then the domino curse and the corpse mutilation in Yizhuang were staged one after another. The death shape of the deceased corresponded to the folk prophecy, and animal bone patterns were left at the scene as tokens. Lin Yan used bones to identify the murderer, folk customs, and logic to deduce the murderer, and he tore apart the veil of the underground organization "Baigutang" layer by layer - this organization used sorcery as a guise to smuggle drugs, sell drugs, kill people, and weave a Chinese criminal network.
After in-depth investigation, ghosts in the police station emerged. An old case three years ago was reopened. Lin Yan discovered that the missing Su Ying was actually an undercover agent in Baigutang, and the founder "Old Ghost" was actually his mentor. In the final duel between master and apprentice, Lin Yan made a choice between friendship and justice, overthrew the main altar, and settled the old case.
The whole book is based on Jinmen folk customs and hard-core detective stories as its core. Cases are hidden within cases, with twists and turns to reveal the human greed and worldly mentality behind the strange sorcery.
