I Invest the Three Teachings with the Mandate of Heaven, and I Invest the Three Teachings

In the Great World of Cangxuan, the Daoist sect, Buddhist school, and Confucian school have controlled the authority of Heaven and Earth since time immemorial.

The Daoists command the mountains, rivers, and spiritual veins, and can grant the fortune of the Dao. The Buddhists command reincarnation and karma, and can determine the blessings and misfortunes of all living beings. The Confucians command the rites and laws of the world, and can grant titles of nobility.

Cultivators and mortal lords alike must seek the recognition and investiture of the Three Schools to gain the blessings of fortune and opportunities for cultivation.

If a mortal dynasty's emperor lacks an imperial edict from the Confucians, fortune from the Daoists, and blessings from the Buddhists, the nation's fortune will steadily decline, and the dynasty may fall in an instant. The Three Schools regard imperial authority in the mortal world as a subordinate puppet, manipulating mortal kingdoms as they please.

In ancient times, there was an era when humanity held the power to confer divine titles. But the Three Schools joined forces to erase it, burning the texts and leaving behind only a few scattered legends.
