History: A Rundown of Unforgettable Tragedies, Zhang Xun Defends Suiyang!

A beam of light tore through the heavens, showing a tragic history that had yet to unfold. Zhang Xun, a seventh-rank civil official, recruited troops to defend the city. Two thousand isolated soldiers held off a hundred thousand rebels, only to be driven to the bleakest extremity when their food ran out.

That day, he took a concubine in front of everyone, only so he could kill her with his own hands after the food ran out and divide her flesh among the starving soldiers. The city's women, children, old, and weak all became rations for the defenders. He personally wrote every death list, earning himself an everlasting reputation in the history books as a "cannibal demon."

Later generations remembered only his demonic face, never knowing that without his desperate defense of Suiyang, the gateway to the south would have been thrown wide open, and the entire dynasty would have fallen a century early. He was a loyal minister and a butcher, abandoned in a desperate situation by the very court he served. As he lay dying, all he asked was to become a vengeful ghost and keep killing the enemy.

At last, a grievance that had weighed on history for a thousand years was chosen as the topic for a history student's first rundown. When the sky screen showed Zhang Xun's future to every dynasty at once, millions waited for the same answer: if that upright official knew his fate in advance, would he still choose to take this road, destined to end in ruin?
