From the Start, I Read Fortunes Across the City, but No One Believes Me

My name is Shen Che. I set up a fortune-telling stall at the night market, and no one's believed me in three years. It's not that I lack ability. It's that no one's worthy of seeing what I can do.

I was born without a veil over my sight. Everyone else has one covering their heart, but I never had one. I can see at a glance who's lying, and I can see in advance who will die tonight.

The famous Iron-Mouth Fortune Teller was cheating people out of their lifespans right there in the night market. I exposed him in front of everyone. One smash of a bracelet sent a paper doll pierced with needles rolling out, and his thirty-year-old reputation collapsed on the spot.

A prodigy from the Starwatch Tower used his Heavenly Eye to read my fate, declaring that I wouldn't live past twenty-five. I turned his own eyes against him, making him see for himself that he would die suddenly in three days. He lost his composure in front of everyone and knelt to admit defeat.

Every fortune teller in the city is asking the same question: Who exactly is this Shen the Half-Immortal?

They can't read my fate. Because on the day I was born, someone cut the thread of my death.

This book was stillborn.
