Siheyuan: Ten Pounds of Pork Belly, Furiously Telling the Yard's Beasts Off

In the courtyard house, everyone had their own little schemes. Li Chengguo had just been reborn as an eighteen-year-old purchasing agent. His parents' compensation money had been stolen, and he was left to care for two four-year-old siblings, with a full seven days to go before payday. Some neighbors were plotting to have him adopt their younger brother, others were jealous of his cushy factory job and wanted to leech off him, and plenty more were waiting to watch him go hungry.

Fortunately, on the day he bound himself to the farm System, ten pounds of premium pork belly, along with rice, flour, and cooking oil, appeared out of thin air. When he lifted the pot lid, the aroma of braised pork filled the entire courtyard. Even the rats by the wall were so tempted they scurried around in circles. In the face of the solid aroma of meat and bowls of white rice, those cold looks, schemes, and sneers suddenly took on a different flavor.

Li Chengguo simply rode his newly purchased permanent bicycle back into the courtyard, a red cord from Deaf Granny tied to the handlebars and two little ones sucking on White Rabbit Creamy Candies perched on the crossbar. If all the courtyard's beasts wanted to see him fail, then he'd eat braised pork with white rice at every meal and see who lost their cool first. His life had only just started getting better. He had no intention of letting these red-eyed neighbors drag him into the mud.
