Siheyuan: No One Helps When My Food Runs Out, Then I Rise with a Reward

After transmigrating into a courtyard with nothing but bare walls and no one to turn to, he awakens the Mutual Aid System and turns his life around.

But at the whole-courtyard meeting, Yi Zhonghai immediately starts preaching about benevolence and morality, Liu Haizhong loves putting on airs like a cadre, and Yan Bugui works his abacus, hoping to profit from both sides. Without a word, Zhang Fendou transfers the aid recipient to the Jia family, letting Qin Huairu's family enjoy the whole courtyard's "warmth" for once. After collecting his System rewards, he heads straight to the procurement department at the steel mill and rejects Yi Zhonghai's "kind offer" to get him a job on the workshop floor, right to his face.

On his first trip to the countryside with his master, he takes a detour to the little courtyard of his fiancee, Song Qiaojie, and finds her relatives at the gate demanding repayment of a debt. In front of everyone in the courtyard, Zhang Fendou settles the bill for her without hesitation, leaves her money, ration coupons, and nourishing foods, then declares, "Once I'm done with work, I'll come ask for your hand." Clutching the money, Song Qiaojie's eyes suddenly turn red. At last, she has something to look forward to.

A procurement officer running all over the mountains, courtyard meetings full of schemes, and a fiancee waiting for an answer. Zhang Fendou has only one path: build a good life and pry every grasping hand off him, one finger at a time.
