Dark Guard Bureau from the Start: Examining Corpses to Reveal the Truth

Gu Changqing transmigrates into the lowest-ranking ensign in the Dark Guard Bureau. All he wants is to save enough money to buy his freedom and retire early. Unfortunately, he has a strange condition: touch a corpse, and he sees what the deceased experienced during their final hour. The coroner calls it a fall, but Gu sees the killer smothering the victim and striking again. In old cases no one dares investigate, all he has to do is close his eyes to see the scene. With every case solved, another merit is added to his record, but his freedom slips farther away. The Chief Ensign suppresses him, the Thousand Households Commander takes an interest in him, and the Inner Court Bureau offers him a position. Someone at court has started looking into him. Worse still, he gets his hands on a copper piece marked Bing 739, which leads to a military supply depot case from ten years ago. Seventy-two copper pieces, a web of evidence. He doesn't dare imagine who lies at its heart. Until one day, he sees the face of the corpse in its final moments, and realizes it's his own.
