Five Million a Day: I'll Spend My Way into Transforming the County

Shanghai-based programmer Lin Jian has been trapped in the 996 grind for years, worn down by cutthroat competition. His monthly salary wouldn't even buy half a square foot in Shanghai.

He wakes up one day to find a System raining down on him, depositing five million every single day!

But the System has one ironclad rule: all the money can only be spent in a small county town!

People assume he couldn't make it in the big city and slunk back to his hometown. A woman on a blind date looks down on him for having no house, no car, and no savings, while a car dealership salesman treats him with contempt, judging him by his appearance.

What a narrow-minded view!

While everyone else is busy saving up to buy a house, he pays cash for a Rolls-Royce to get around;

when developers are desperate to find a buyer for the unfinished Xinghewan project, he takes over the whole thing and turns it around;

he builds industrial parks, constructs new schools and hospitals, and improves the city's infrastructure, transforming his hometown and improving people's lives.

Faced with doubts from the entire city, Lin Jian smiles faintly. "I've never wanted to be some little county town's richest man."

Years later, businesspeople flock in from elsewhere, and the once-small county town has become a prosperous, livable new city.

A reporter asks why he set out to transform the county town. Lin Jian waves a hand nonchalantly. "I just had plenty of money, so I figured I'd do something useful for my hometown while I was at it."
