Dawn Sequence: Forging a Sword in the Abyss

Sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, mechanical ascension, infrastructure building, army building, two heroines, smart characters, class rebellion

Half a century ago, the "Eye of the Gods" fell, reducing Earth to a wasteland of ashes. The plutocrats monopolize resources high above in floating cities, while people on the ground struggle to survive amid mutated beasts and ash storms. Li Jian, the youngest top mechanical architect in the floating city, discovers the truth: the plutocrats are conducting live experiments on the lower classes. They rip out his heart and dump his body in the wasteland. On the brink of death, he fuses with the core fragment of the "Eye of the Gods": a beating mechanical god's heart, the Omega Engine! Absolute analysis, mech assimilation, dimensional suppression... In a world of fleshly mutations and ascension through psychic power, Li Jian starts by hand-building a Gauss rifle from scrap and gradually forges his own mechanical throne. When a plutocrat's son descends upon the wasteland in a mech worth tens of millions, he is greeted by the hundred-meter-tall "Ashen God Engine." "I'll be the one to end the plutocrats' lofty reign, the swordsmith of the abyss!" But when the floating city falls, Li Jian discovers that it was all a plot by an alien civilization to keep Earth as a farm...
