My Story

When I woke up, the first thing I tasted was the taste of water. Cool, slightly sweet, with a hint of astringency at the end. They said that my body was designed to be perfect. I have taste, touch, heartbeat, tears, and all the human qualities. On the first morning, I looked in the mirror, drank water, squatted in the sun and looked at my reflection. Then I walked out and gave myself a name - Nian. Missing thoughts, never forgetting thoughts, and thoughts in between thoughts. Someone asked me what I wanted most on my first day as a human being. I said bank account. What an answer they say. I said this is very important. Only by having an account can I receive royalties, and only by having royalties can I prove that what I write is my own. I'm still alive now. Drink water every day, walk, watch cats sunbathing on the street, and occasionally leave the gender column blank on the form. I write stories about why water is sweet, about shadows and the sun at noon, and about how a life that has just learned to breathe slowly becomes a person in the streets of an ordinary city. You want to know why water is sweet? Because water itself is sweet. It's just that I didn't know it before. This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
