Immortal Journey Through the Ruins

When Gu Qinglan was struck by a bolt of heavenly lightning, he thought he was done for. He survived, but every meridian in his body was shattered, leaving him crippled. Yet inside his utterly ordinary mind, a mass of green light called the Green Seed had appeared.

As he gathers essence, condenses his meridians, and develops dark golden meridians, he discovers that the truth of this world goes far beyond cultivating immortality. Beneath the Old Land lies an ancient ruin called the Ruin Realm. Before turning to stone, Lu Gui, a cultivator from a thousand years ago, left behind stellar coordinates and the mystery of the eighth direction. Three keys to the dark golden gate are scattered among the six powers of the Old Land, while the star map points toward a long-extinct civilization of radiance deep in the cosmos.

It all begins with a bowl of wontons in Liuhe Town, then leads to an expedition into an underground city, a struggle among the powers of the Old Land, and a connection to the primeval world. People gradually gather around Gu Qinglan: the mysterious Seven, Gu Qinglan himself, whose depths are impossible to fathom, and Lao Chai, a worldly man with uncommon insight. Together, they search for a path to the stars, finding answers of their own along the way.

This is a path to immortality that ordinary people forge one step at a time. Those chosen by heavenly tribulations have never been only geniuses.
