Dongfeng Po aims to break the inherent routine of traditional oriental fantasy of "golden elixir, Yuanying, ascending to immortality", and attempts to build an alternative world of cultivation that is "weird, depressing but full of tension". The work uses "wind" as the core image, deeply binds the natural phenomenon of wind prison with the rise and fall of dynasties and the fate of the country, and explores how individual destiny competes with the grand historical torrent in troubled times where rituals and music are broken. The protagonist Gu Qingzhou, as a blind man, "listens to the wind to identify the position" and searches for the truth amidst the invisible horror, symbolizing the persistent pursuit of light and justice in an era of despair.
