After I Passed the Imperial Exam, My Father Slew a Dragon and Set Off for the Journey to the West!

Wei Shuyu transmigrated as Wei Zheng's son. After years of diligent study and two thousand years' worth of knowledge, he swept through the provincial, metropolitan, and palace examinations, taking first place in all three. At the palace examination, he rebutted the proposal for a marriage alliance and suggested using the Favor-Extending Order to divide the steppe tribes. Li Shimin immediately awarded him the highest grade. On the day the results were posted, he rode through Chang'an in a red robe, and three poems spread across the whole city. "The spring breeze fills my heart, my horse's hooves fly" became an essential part of the new top scholar's routine.

Just as he was basking in success, his father Wei Zheng casually remarked, "I dozed off while playing chess and dreamed I went to behead a dragon. I think it was the Jing River Dragon King." Wei Shuyu's mind went blank. Wasn't this Journey to the West? What happened next? The Jing River Dragon King's vengeful spirit would seek revenge, Li Shimin would travel in spirit to the underworld, then there'd be the Water and Land Dharma Assembly, Tang Sanzang's appearance, and the Journey to the West!

His father had been summoned by Li Shimin to play chess all morning. The emperor wasn't favoring the Wei family; he was keeping the execution official occupied for the Jing River Dragon King. Wei Shuyu sat in his study, staring at the relationship chart for a long time, then finally picked up his brush and wrote four names in a blank space: Tang Sanzang, Wukong, Bajie, and Sha Seng. If it was going to be Journey to the West, then so be it. He'd already become the top scholar. It wasn't as if he could give the title back.
