Siheyuan: From Wartime Villainy to the Central Government

After staying up all night watching Love in the Courtyard and dying of anger, Chen Mo transmigrates into the body of a 15-year-old orphan in Japanese-occupied Beiping in 1943. He awakens the Against-the-Dragon's-Scales System: doing bad deeds makes him stronger, while doing good deeds will kill him.

He grins. "Then what if I ruin the bad guys financially, and get them to do good deeds of their own free will?"

He sets Jia Zhangshi up to break her leg, then kindly treats her, earning her gratitude; drains Yi Zhonghai's retirement savings but turns him into a moral paragon; and uses Silly Zhu's devotion to help him marry his true love.

He makes a fortune on the black market during the war, yet keeps half the underground party alive. During the Cultural Revolution, he denounces his mentor while secretly protecting three hundred scientists. With his foreknowledge, he crushes the competition during Reform and Opening Up, rising from an orphan at the neighborhood office to the very peak of power.

Over the course of seventy years, he crosses into the world of Bright Sword and meets Li Yunlong, infiltrates the world of Lurk and learns from Yu Zecheng, then lays the groundwork for the Handong faction in In the Name of the People. When the System reveals the truth, that it came from 2123 and chose a defiant soul who could protect the light with darkness, Chen Mo stands at the pinnacle of power and looks back on his life: "All my life, I've done evil, and I have a clear conscience."
