I Won Li Mochou Over by Picking Faults in Martial Arts Techniques

War rages across the Southern Song during the Jiaxi era. Martial artists everywhere focus on flashy poses and rigid forms, ruining their own skills. The orphan Li Jingchen finds the Nine Yin Manual and gains a discerning eye that spots flaws in every school's techniques. By correcting weaknesses, he develops real combat skills. He happens upon the gentle Li Mochou and, with a single remark, points out the weakness in her Jade Maiden Swordplay. The fairy-like beauty falls for him and stays by his side. The two travel throughout the Song, challenge renowned sects, and watch four Huashan Sword Tournaments. They tease the Five Greats to their faces about the flaws in their martial arts, befriend a host of ordinary people from the martial world, fight the Mongols and aid the righteous army, and put an end to the martial world's obsession with flashy but useless forms. In the end, they settle into a peaceful life. The protagonist often jokes that he owes his lifelong romance to pointing out mistakes and getting lucky.
