Forging the World with Magic

In the Great Yong dynasty, imperial power is waning, aristocratic clans monopolize everything, and the law has become a fig leaf for the powerful.

Lin Yuan, a doctor of law, transmigrates by accident into the body of a dying prisoner at the Heifeng Mine. His right leg is injured, and he is unarmed.

Here, working yourself to death means dying, and slacking off means dying too.

Faced with the whip of Zhao the Skinflint, a prison guard, he doesn't shout in anger. He simply quotes a clause from Great Yong law: "A custodian who abuses a prisoner and causes injury shall receive eighty strokes of the staff."

He wields legal statutes like a blade and sets traps using loopholes in the rules.

From the roar of "poisonous fire" in the mine tunnels to bloody remonstrations in the imperial hall;

from wresting food from the aristocratic clans to forging laws amid the flames of border warfare.

He wanted to be the sword-bearer of the rule of law, but discovers that this world doesn't just eat flesh, it drinks blood too.

"The law is a blade. A blade is neither good nor evil."

"But if this world has no justice, then I will use my flesh and blood as fuel to forge the law anew."
