Under the Price

In a world of magic where cost is truth, every spell requires a sacrifice, and growing stronger means shedding blood. Flesh, lifespan, and souls are all bargaining chips for power.

Every mage climbs the ranks by sacrificing flesh and soul, but Eli is the exception.

After making a triumphant rise and being judged a traitor to the mages, he discovers that this world seems to be beyond saving.

Eli breaks down and covers his face:

"Blergh, what's going on with this world? Why does it get darker the deeper I dig?"

When he lowers his hands, he realizes the smile has never left his face.

"Well, can't be helped. I'll just have to help you restart it."
