Devouring the Dao of Chaos

Before Heaven and Earth were formed, before Hongmeng was divided, endless chaotic energy filled the void. There was no passage of time, no boundary of space, no distinction between life and death, and no difference between good and evil. This was the most primordial and violent dimension. Chaotic currents crashed wildly against one another, giving rise to countless fragments of laws that sometimes gathered into profound runes and sometimes shattered into dust and vanished into nothingness.

At the source of the core of chaos, a strand of the purest laws, woven from spacetime and the void, had been nourished by chaotic spiritual energy for countless eons. It absorbed the primordial forces of annihilation and creation within the chaos, and slowly developed sentience. It had no fixed form: at times it became swirling mists of light, at others a massive block of dark iron, and sometimes an endless phantom shadow. It had no name or consciousness, following only chaos's most primal instinct: to maintain the balance of chaos and protect the source laws from being destroyed.

At that time, three thousand Demon Gods were gestating in the chaos, each commanding one of the Great Daos of Chaos. Some governed power, some destruction, some life, and some reincarnation. This newly awakened sentience, however, commanded the most unusual Great Dao of all: the void and causality.
