Travel Through Time and Space

Lin Yan, a graduate student in the Department of Modern History, accidentally touched an ancestral bronze pocket watch and traveled back to the reign of Renzong Jingyou in the Northern Song Dynasty. In front of him were rows of wooden pavilions, cornices, green tiles and white walls, and busy streets. Pedestrians wear long blouses with long sleeves, underskirts and long skirts, and their hair is combed in ancient buns. Vendors carry burdens and sell goods. The shops on the street hang traditional Chinese signs that read "tea house", "wine shop", "rice shop" and "silk satin shop".
