The Sequel to Investiture of the Gods: Daji’s Rebirth

Set against the backdrop of Jiang Ziya carrying out Heaven’s decree to confer divine titles in Xu Zhonglin’s novel Investiture of the Gods, this story follows three demons: the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit Su Daji, the Nine-Headed Pheasant Spirit Hu Ximei, and the Jade Pipa Spirit Wang Guiren. After Jiang Ziya executes them, they resent what they see as unfair treatment in the investiture, transform into demons, and rebel against Heaven. They conquer the Underworld and force Empress Nuwa to descend from Wa Huang Palace and undergo a mortal incarnation and tribulation. In the end, moved by the sincerity of Bo Yikao, the Great Emperor Ziwei in Heaven, Su Daji rekindles her relationship with Bo Yikao, sincerely repents, abandons evil for good, and accumulates boundless merit. To ensure Empress Nuwa can return safely, she ultimately gives her life, achieving nirvana and transforming into a lotus. This novel and its characters are entirely fictional.
