The Path to Godhood Begins in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Zhang Jiutian, an unparalleled demon cultivator, is purged by the Heavenly Dao and transmigrates to the world of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The protagonist is invincible and not a do-gooder. The current heroines are Ayame Yomogawa and Mumei. A chat group may appear later, connecting the Myriad Worlds. As the waves of the Industrial Revolution sweep across the world, and society shifts from the early modern era to the modern age, immortal monsters suddenly appear. Wrapped in iron skins, they cannot be killed unless their hearts are destroyed. Those bitten by them seem to revive after dying once, then begin attacking humans. These monsters, later called Kabane, multiply explosively and overrun the world.

To fight the threat of the Kabane, the people of Japan, an island nation in the Far East, build fortress towns called "stations" throughout the land and huddle inside them, doing everything they can to survive. The only way to travel between stations is aboard armored steam locomotives, commonly known as Hayajiro. The stations manage to sustain their livelihoods by trading the goods they produce with one another.
