Lin Ke, a former criminal profiler whose memory was erased, survives as a low-level data cleaner. He is born with "absolute rationality" and is immune to the "mood stabilizers" issued by the company. By chance, he found in the data garbage the same weird smile as the "Smiling Serial Killer" case five years ago - and that case was the reason why he was thrown into the dust.
During the investigation, he was horrified to discover that the so-called killer was not one person, but a cruel experiment led by the company to screen human consciousness.
