From the Start in the Siheyuan, Li Yunlong and I Become Sworn Brothers

Lu Feng, an engineering graduate, is in a car accident and transmigrates to a courtyard house in Beiping during the War of Resistance against Japan. Having just escaped the Japanese army's prison with his life, he crawls into a pit beneath the heated bed in search of food, only to fall into a tunnel connected to the Eighth Route Army's base. There, he runs into Li Yunlong and Zhao Gang, who are worried about their damaged Type 38 rifles. Hating the Japanese invaders with all his heart, Lu Feng puts his mechanical engineering skills to work, using the crude tools in a blacksmith's shop to repair rifle mechanisms and recast parts. In a single day, he restores eight broken guns to fighting condition, easing the unit's urgent need to repel a sweep by enemy forces. Impressed by Lu Feng's courage, superb craftsmanship, and fervent patriotism, Li Yunlong immediately proposes that they swear brotherhood. At the base, surrounded by the flames of war, Lu Feng and Li Yunlong become sworn brothers. Lu Feng uses his modern knowledge to improve weapons and offer strategies, while also charging into battle with the Independent Regiment. Thus begins his wildly satisfying life: fighting the Japanese by day, and feasting in the courtyard house by night.
