An Undercover Agent in the Jie Sect, How Did I End Up as Its Leader?

Shen Mo transmigrates into a disciple of the Jie Sect just before the Great Tribulation of Investiture of the Gods. His System orders him to become a spy for the Chan Sect.

Shen Mo: "I'll tell the Heavenly Venerable of Primordial Beginning that my senior brother is a demon, and provoke the Chan Sect into suppressing the Jie Sect!"

The Heavenly Venerable of Primordial Beginning thinks he's too low-ranking to bother with.

But the Lord of Heaven-Splitting is delighted: "Good disciple! You fearlessly went right up to the Chan Sect and provoked them to their faces. I hereby appoint you the chief propaganda ambassador of the Myriad Immortals Hall!"

Shen Mo: "I'll steal the Jie Sect's supreme treasure and present it to the Chan Sect!"

As he flees with the treasure, the demon race ambushes him. In a panic, he uses the treasure to kill his attackers, accidentally saving a group of humans.

The Lord of Heaven-Splitting is moved to tears: "To protect all living things, my disciple risked carrying a supreme treasure as bait for petty villains. Such righteousness rivals that of a saint!"

Shen Mo: "I'll betray the Jie Sect during the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation and stab the Lord of Heaven-Splitting in the back!"

But just as he rushes forward, the Four Saints' attacks arrive.

His betrayal looks like a selfless act of protecting his master, as he takes a deadly blow meant for the Lord of Heaven-Splitting.

Holding his gravely wounded body, the Lord of Heaven-Splitting roars: "Today, I would defy Heaven itself to save my good disciple!"
