After the Clan Exodus: I Build a City-State on a Desert Island

Story Synopsis:

During the Wu Zhou period, Li Yan, Vice Minister of Works, angered the powerful with one of his engineering projects. A ruthless official framed him, and he was thrown into prison. Three months later, more than five hundred members of his family were exiled to the southern frontier. After months of hardship on the road, they arrived at Shiying Island, a place of exile for condemned prisoners on the southeastern coast.

As his son Li Chen lay gravely ill and close to death, a soul from the modern era awakened within him: Li Xiao, an engineering student. Drawing on his father's engineering notes and technology far ahead of its time, Li Xiao ignited the spark of progress on desolate Shiying Island.

He revolutionized manufacturing, turning the island's abundant quartz into brilliant glassware and using it to build capital. He built a city and trained an army, united people of different ethnicities, and established the prosperous and powerful Glass City.

After ten years of development, the isolated island had become an overseas jewel, with thriving trade and a comfortable life for its people. Its might was known throughout the coastal regions. Emperor Wu issued an edict pardoning Li Xiao and summoning him back to court, but Li Xiao respectfully declined the imperial favor, choosing instead to protect the ideal nation he had built with his own hands.

With modern technology and wisdom, he overcame crises and forged alliances far and wide. He developed commerce while prioritizing industry, promoted education, and welcomed visitors. In time, he became a legendary city lord, creating a golden age of inclusivity and prosperity in this overseas island city-state.
