Great Tang: I Present Li Er with the Art of Steelmaking from the Start

1. In the third year of Zhenguan, Chen Jing transmigrates into the family of a farmer in Chang'an and activates the Great Tang Infrastructure System. He improves the curved-beam plow to solve the spring planting crisis, smelts hundred-refined steel using traditional methods, and is recommended by the county magistrate for an audience with the emperor. In court, he snaps an old sword with his steel, refutes the aristocratic clans' doubts, wins Li Shimin's exceptional favor, and is appointed director of the Imperial Works Office.

He oversees a steelworks that breaks the iron ore monopoly, creates new Tang sabers to help the Tang army resist the Turks, builds waterwheels and canals to end droughts, and introduces high-yield wheat to stabilize people's livelihoods. When aristocratic clans such as Cui Renshi obstruct him, he wields technology as his blade and popular support as his shield, dismantling the old powers. He even expands the Tang empire's territory with steam technology and the nautical compass.

From a commoner in the countryside to Zhenguan's greatest meritorious official, Chen Jing builds an age of prosperity with full granaries and a powerful army. Li Shimin praises him as "surpassing Xiao He and outdoing Wei Qing and Huo Qubing," and he ultimately makes the Tang empire the celestial realm to which all nations pay tribute!
