Granaries Full of Rice

Set in Gangqing Village, this novel tells the story of Xu Hong's decade-long effort to revitalize the countryside. In 2018, Xu Hong gives up his city job and returns to his hometown. Despite facing skepticism, he explores ecological farming methods such as rice-fish co-cultivation. After early planting trials fail, he establishes a cooperative and develops the "Zhongbu Rural Charm" brand, overcoming challenges that include technical problems, resolving conflicts, unsold goods during the pandemic, and gaining access to international markets.

Even while ill, he remains committed to his work and passes on his experience to Xu Yu. He helps the brand obtain EU organic certification and writes a handbook on local farming methods to preserve his knowledge. In 2028, Xu Hong officially hands over the reins to Xu Yu, completing the passing of the torch.

The novel brings its cast to life and depicts Gangqing Village's transformation from traditional farming to ecological industries, as well as the shift from villagers leaving to find work to earning a living close to home. It promotes the principles of "organic farming and honest business" and highlights the power of passing the torch from one generation to the next, expressing the dedication and hope that drive rural revitalization.
