Reborn: I Am the Pirate King of the Ming Dynasty

Hai Shiliang is unexpectedly reborn in the Yongle era of the Ming dynasty, as the trusted deputy of the infamous pirate king Chen Zuyi.

He witnesses Chen Zuyi's defeat by Zheng He's fleet, and after narrowly escaping, takes up the tattered pirate flag himself.

With a modern soul, he lays down a strict rule: he will not take so much as a single coin from the people of the Ming. He will target only Japanese pirates and wealthy smugglers.

When a vicious fleet of Japanese pirates massacres coastal fishing villages, he appears from nowhere with his pirate fleet.

When powerful merchant smugglers collude with corrupt officials to monopolize the lifeline of the sea, he seizes their merchant ships and distributes their wealth to the people.

When remnants of the former dynasty plot to restore their rule, he sets a trap at sea and sinks their ships in a storm of cannon fire.

When the Portuguese arrive with sturdy ships and powerful cannons, he raids their rear and cuts off their supplies, forcing them to sign an equal trade treaty.

The Yongle Emperor roars in anger: "If this scoundrel is not eliminated, I cannot rest easy!"

But the people regard him as the "Dragon King Who Quells the Seas," and merchant ships secretly fly his Dragon King banner to pray for protection.

When the Ming navy is on the verge of defeat in its decisive battle against the main Japanese pirate fleet at Shuangyu Harbor, a fleet bearing a tattered pirate flag tears through the encirclement.

Standing bloodied at the bow, Hai Shiliang declares, "Today, I fight for the Ming!"
