A Journey Through the Mountains and Seas

This is how our story began:

Legend has it that in the age of the Great Wilderness, the mountains and seas fell into chaos. At that time, there were five great branches known as the East, West, South, North, and Central, and the lands were divided into the Inner Sea and the Outer Sea. On the sixth day of the sixth month of the six hundred and sixtieth year of the Great Wilderness, at the hour of the Dragon, a child was born in the Great Wilderness. On that day, heaven and earth turned upside down, and the sun and moon shifted. When the child was born, every bird, beast, plant, and tree within ten li bowed its head toward his birthplace. Some birds cried out, some apes lowered their heads, and some creatures leaped with excitement... A cloud of rainbow colors circled above the place where the child was born. His eyes had double pupils, his limbs were as white as fat, and his features were delicate and handsome.

By the age of three, he could understand the speech of every beast and hear the words of plants. The child was named Peng, meaning a journey of ten thousand li.

Upon reaching adulthood, he bid farewell to his father and mother and vowed to travel all the mountains and seas, recording everything he saw and thought.
