The Broken Bridge Sword

Broken Bridge Sword

Though the rain falls wide, it cannot nourish rootless grass.

Though the mystic way is vast, it cannot save those who do not believe.

The bond in this life, the longing left over from the past. The love of this life, a tearful promise made at the next turn of the wheel.

By the Bridge of Hel, those low whispers, those silhouettes fading into the distance.

The yin wind howls, fallen leaves dance.

Listen, who is it, leaning against the bridge and speaking again?

Though there are a thousand knots in the heart,

that bowl is still so impossible to refuse!

The Forgetting Potion is gone, and all that came before has fallen away.

Black hair turns to snow, tears flow into a river.

Broken bridge, fading shadow, the sword's cry rings like a song.

On the Three-Life Stone, old vows are mottled and worn.
