A Space-Time Merchant in History

That year, the Jin marched south and seized Bianjing, the Northern Song capital, carrying off the two emperors, Huizong and Qinzong. The princesses were sold into slavery and abused to death, while the empress, unable to bear the humiliating goat-walking ritual, took her own life in shame and fury.

That year, Hong Taiji had already founded the Qing. The Ming suffered a crushing defeat at Songjin, and years of famine and plague left the people destitute as the situation worsened. The dynasty, which had stood for nearly three hundred years, was on the verge of collapse.

That year, the United States passed the Chinese Exclusion Act, and countless Chinese people were massacred and driven out. That year, the Qing Empire teetered on the brink as foreign powers greedily carved up the country. That year, Japan, greatly strengthened by the Meiji Restoration, began expanding abroad and turned its gaze toward the large but weak dynasty next door.

That year, Gu Zhaotang arrived by transmigration with a Gate Through Time and Space. Behind him lay the nearly limitless supplies of the modern world.
