The Female Great Sage Equal to Heaven

Many people have argued that the Great Sage Equal to Heaven was actually a woman. Their reasons? She wore a hairpin and a tiger-skin skirt, and had a petite figure. Aren't those obvious feminine traits? No male immortal dresses like that. More importantly, she had a woman's heart: quick to anger, fond of cursing, proud and aloof, vain, showy, and full of misplaced compassion. The way men treated her can serve as further proof. From a female, distinctive, modern perspective, this work shows us a different little monkey: her complicated emotional journey, inner feelings, worldview, and life experiences, as well as how she sees her master, junior fellow disciple, big brother, admirers, and suitors. The work is witty and humorous, with a fresh, distinctive story and thought-provoking content. Most commendably, the author doesn't simply repeat the familiar tales of Journey to the West, but takes a new approach, offering something both original and grounded in the familiar world. All right, if you like it, follow me into the Great Sage Equal to Heaven's inner world and see how a young woman makes her way through Journey to the West in a man's world.
