Ranking History's Greatest Eras: From the Start, I Shock the First Emperor

A ranking of China's greatest prosperous eras throughout history suddenly appeared, projected before the eyes of rulers from every dynasty. The countdown began with the tenth place!

Ying Zheng surveyed the world with disdain: "I swept across the Six States, unified the written language and standardized the axle widths. I am the First Emperor of the Ages. Who else could take the top spot but me?"

Li Shimin stroked his beard proudly: "The Reign of Zhenguan brought peace to the four barbarians, and nations from across the world came to pay tribute. If I don't appear on the list, it's a joke!"

Zhao Kuangyin gazed at prosperous Bianjing, brimming with confidence: "My Great Song is flourishing and wealthy, far surpassing the Han and Tang. We must rank near the top!"

Kangxi sat upright on the dragon throne, smiling faintly: "Hmph. We'll see."

But when the standards for each prosperous era were quantified and compared, and the details and rankings were cruelly revealed...

The emperors of every dynasty finally realized that the achievements they had prided themselves on either had fatal flaws or had been far surpassed by later generations in certain respects!

The First Emperor stared at the unfamiliar names and figures on the list and fell into a long silence.

When Kangxi saw the words "literary inquisitions," "isolationism," and "missing the eve of the Industrial Revolution," his face turned ashen. He roared inwardly: "Absurd! Complete nonsense! This is slander against me! Slander against my Great Qing!"
