The Dragon Rises in Daze Township

In the seventh month of the first year of Qin Ershi, a group of conscripts, led by Chen Sheng and Wu Guang, raised the banner of rebellion at Daze Township, opening the way to the overthrow of the Qin Dynasty. After the uprising began, rebellions broke out across the land. In the territories of the former Six Kingdoms, calls to resist Qin grew louder with each passing wave. Seeing the situation clearly, Chen Sheng sent troops deep into the former lands of Han, Zhao, and Wei, actively fueling the rebellion and nurturing its strength, creating a promising situation with uprisings flaring up in many places.

To stamp out the flames of revolt, the Qin Dynasty mobilized two great armies, the Lishan Army and the Great Wall Army. One swept through Zhao and Han before lifting the siege of Xingyang; the other swept through Wei, Qi, and Wu before advancing into Lingnan to bring in the Lingnan Army and eradicate anti-Qin forces. But with a foolish ruler and inept ministers in power, this decision was hopelessly out of touch with reality. The Lishan Army became trapped in Changsha, the Great Wall Army was cut off beyond Hangu Pass, and they watched as Xianyang fell and the Qin Dynasty perished.

After two years of grueling warfare, the rebel army led by Chen Sheng grew from weak to strong, finally overthrowing the tyrannical Qin and founding the Chen Dynasty.
