The Qin Palace: The Story of Fusu

Fusu, the First Qin Emperor's eldest son, is demoted to the commandery of Shang to supervise the army after angering his father by opposing the book-burning and the burying alive of scholars. Ambushed along the way, he unexpectedly inherits the teachings of the Hundred Schools of Thought, gaining such supreme arts as the Mohist mechanisms, Daoist cultivation methods, and Guigu swordsmanship. On the frontier, he meets Meng Tian and establishes the Qinglong Society, secretly building up his strength. After the First Emperor dies, Zhao Gao alters the imperial edict and forces Fusu to take his own life. Fusu fakes his death and escapes, disappearing into the jianghu. He joins forces with the Mohists, farmers, Confucians, and other factions, vowing to overthrow tyranny.

Fusu rallies the people with his ideas of benevolent governance and contends with anti-Qin forces such as Xiang Yu and Liu Bang. He confronts Zhao Gao at an altar of the Yin-Yang School and crushes the Qin army at the Battle of Julu. In the end, he ascends the throne and implements new policies. But remnants of the Six Kingdoms and conflicts among the Hundred Schools rise again. Fusu governs by appearing Confucian while ruling in the Legalist manner, opens up the Silk Road, and intimidates the surrounding lands.

Before his death, he disbands the Qinglong Society, and the Hundred Schools retreat from the world, leaving behind a legacy of benevolent governance that will benefit the people for a thousand years. This is an epic blending wuxia and history, telling the story of an idealist who stands firm and transforms amid the chaos of a troubled age.
