The universe is in an era of multi-civilization warfare. Powerful interstellar empires are constantly waging wars to compete for resources, territory and hegemony. Weak civilizations survive in the cracks and are often annexed or enslaved by powerful forces. The protagonist was originally an ordinary astronomy enthusiast on Earth. An unexpected cosmic ray burst caused him to travel through this interstellar chaos and land on a small colonial planet that was about to be destroyed by an alien pirate group.
