The Fox Transformation Record

Chapter One: Blood Jade Marrow Shatters the Laoshan Moon; Yin-Yang Eyes Glimpse the Road to the Underworld

Deep in the Laoshan Mountains, a fox cries three times.

Su Jiuli squats atop an old locust tree, the tip of her tail gently curling around half a piece of blood jade marrow. She snatched it from tomb raiders earlier that night. Now it gives off an eerie red glow, dimming even the ghostly fires around her.

Snap.

The blood jade marrow suddenly cracks, and crimson liquid splashes onto her forehead. Su Jiuli cries out and falls from the tree. Her fur vanishes in an instant, revealing the form of a young woman, but her right cheek is covered in blue-black markings shaped like witchcraft runes.

Is this... a blood pact of the Wu Clan? She gazes at the bone markings appearing in her palm, then hears the deep toll of a bronze bell in the distance.

Seven Wu shamans wearing bronze masks emerge from the mist. The leader removes his hood, revealing a living Gu worm coiled around his pale neck.

A fox demon has stolen a sacred relic of the Wu Clan. Sacrifice her to the netherworld. With a wave of the shaman's hand, a crack to the Yellow Springs splits the ground, and countless pale arms burst from the earth.
