This is a vast world. A thousand years before the protagonist was born, a sudden fog descended, shrouding the world and gathering its people onto a single stretch of land. A wizard suddenly appeared and tempted people to sacrifice the old, weak, sick, and disabled among them. The fog stopped at the edge of that land and went no farther. Thus a federation was formed, and the wizard became both emperor and grand commander. The ten major gangs of those days became the Ten Great Families of today.
