Great Ming: Setting Sail to Conquer the Globe

Xiao Mingyan was engrossed in historical novels when, with a sudden whoosh, he transmigrated to the tenth year of the Hongzhi era in the Ming Dynasty. Talk about a brutal start: this was difficulty level “hell”!

Ming China was freezing in the Little Ice Age, and landlords had seized vast swathes of land, leaving ordinary people in dire straits. Meanwhile, the Renaissance was in full swing in Europe, Russia had just escaped Mongol control, and Columbus and da Gama were busy opening new sea routes.

Though Xiao Mingyan was a scholar, he had a “cheat code” in the form of modern knowledge. To improve people's lives, he refined salt so they could leave coarse salt behind. He also invented briquette coal, keeping people warm through winter. It was snapped up as soon as it hit the market.

He also made glass and built telescopes. Every time these novelties appeared, everyone was so astonished their jaws nearly hit the floor, and they called him an “immortal.”

But Xiao Mingyan wasn't satisfied with that. He assembled a mighty fleet. Officials at court debated his deeds, while ordinary people hailed him as a hero. And so, with one advantage after another, Xiao Mingyan became the Viceroy of the Four Seas for the Ming Dynasty and changed its fate.
