Jiang Yi was a web novelist who knew Journey to the West by heart. While staying up late to meet a deadline, a mysterious light swept him into the world of Journey to the West, where he possessed the body of an ordinary little monkey on Flower-Fruit Mountain.
Before he could get used to his new identity, a cold, mechanical voice rang in his mind: "Journey to the West Beating System successfully bound. Every time you successfully get beaten, you will receive experience points and a random reward. Experience points can be used to increase the Host's strength." Jiang Yi was both shocked and bewildered. He looked at the monkeys frolicking around him, then glanced at his own scrawny body, and felt utterly helpless.
Not long after, the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals arrived to lay siege to Flower-Fruit Mountain. Seeing the magical weapons and spells filling the sky, Jiang Yi gritted his teeth and charged forward. With a bang, a Heavenly Soldier's spear swept him off his feet, sending him flying several yards. Pain surged through him, but Jiang Yi had no time to cry out. He eagerly awaited the System's notification. "Ding! Successfully got beaten once. Received 10 experience points and one random reward: a Basic Healing Pill." Jiang Yi was overjoyed. He quickly took the pill, and his wounds healed at a visible speed.
From then on, Jiang Yi began his "getting-beaten journey."
